Meet Kristen

It all started in New York

Born and raised in the big city of New York, N.Y., Kristen is country girl charm wrapped in urban chic style. Kristen JoyAnn Jamison, whose name means “Anointed to Bring Joy” and “Grace, and Favor” was almost literally born and raised in church. 

Kristen is a fourth generation extension of an anointed and skillful line of singers and musicians. She had her first concert at the age of 3. She was given the esteemed privilege of being the opening singer for two of the historic National Democratic Debates and called upon to be the singer of the national anthem for two of then Senator Barack Obama’s rallies. In October 2013, she had the honor of singing the National Anthem for the swearing in of the first African American mayor of the city of Orangeburg, SC. She was awarded the “Most Outstanding Alto Soloist in the Nation” by the Black Music Caucus of New York, for two consecutive years.

Her Voice Has Taken Her Around the World

From the east coast to the west coast, in England, Japan, and Jamaica, Kristen has opened for and/or done background for Anita Wilson, Le'Andria Johnson, Travis Greene, Myron Williams, Angie Stone, Kim Burrell, Kierra Sheard, Jonathan Nelson, and Donald Lawrence, to name a few. As a finalist in the “Your Dream Is Out There Live –Gospel Sensation” Contest, Kristen performed in New York City at The Theater at Madison Square Garden as a part of the Super Bowl Gospel Celebration 2014 Pre-show, alongside Grammy award winner Tasha Cobbs Leonard. She was featured as a Top 20 Finalist on Season 7 of BET's Sunday Best. Kristen has performed for honorable organizations such as: the Congressional Black Caucus, National Democratic Party, Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and the Minority AIDS Council.

She studied music and dance at the Harlem School of the Arts and the Dance Theatre of Harlem. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, from South Carolina State University. Mrs. Jamison is a former member of the Benedict College Family and is now home at dear beloved Alma Mater, South Carolina State University. Sis. Kris, as she is affectionately called at church, is a faithful member of Victory Tabernacle Deliverance Temple in Orangeburg, SC under the leadership of Suffragan Bishop Michael C. Butler. There she serves as the Minister of Worship & Arts and the Praise & Worship leader. Jamison also serves as Minister of Music for the South Carolina State Council (24thEpiscopal District) of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. (PAW, Inc.)  and PAW, Inc. International Praise & Worship Team. She is an active member of the Beta Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

 

First Independent Project "He Can"

In 2005, K. JoyAnn released her first independent project entitled “He Can”. She served as primary writer, arranger and executive producer. Since then, she has been featured on several products including John Lakin & Band of Worshipper, Francis Marion Gospel Choir, and CHOYCE. In 2014, K Joy Ann released her hit single “I Believe”. She is currently working on her next projects. 

On December 8, 2012, she was joined in holy matrimony to her southern gentleman and business manager, Min. Alex Jamison. They have two beautiful daughters, Taiylor Alexsys and Kailyn Alexa.K. JoyAnn stands boldly on the word of God according to Isaiah 61:1-3. Of her calling to music ministry and her career aspirations she says this, “I have been anointed to bring joy to all people and to lead them into the presence of the Lord. “The accolades are wonderful but when I’m done ministering, singing or speaking to people, I want them to want my Jesus.”
